                                                                The cow is a usefull animal to us it is a domestic animal.The cow gives us milk. Doctors say milk is nourishing food. We drink milk. We make various food from milk Butter; Cheese;Powdered milk; yoghurt; condensed milk ; gee curd are some of them. Some people eat meat of the cow. We call the meat of cow is beef. We use the skin of the cow to make leather. We shoes; Betts; bags; ball covers; etc. We use the bones of the cow to make curio items. They are very expensive. We use cow dung to make manure to cot the floors of the house.

                                      Hindus treat the cow as a sacred animal. We also must treat

 to the cow kindly.

THE ELEPHANT

The largest animal on land is the elephant.It is about 9 seet tall and it is about 100 ton in weight. It legs are like mortars. It is ears are like the winnoving Fon. It is nose is elongated. It is called a trunk. It is very useful. It is served like a hand. It helps it to carry logs; break branches and eat them; take water and flash on it is body. It is eyes are very small in comparisen with the other parts sop. It is body some elephants have tusks.they are called tuskers. We can take the ivory from them.              

                                                     There are tamed elephants and the wild elephants. The wild elephants are living in the jungle. They eat leaves. They live in herds. The wild elephants are very dangerous. Some times they come to village and destroy the houses and crops. Elephants are very fond of their young ones. The protect them from insets Appling the clay on their bodies. The tamed elephants are very useful. They do much work we know the elephants carry the tooth relic in the procession. The man who looks after the elephants is called a mahout.

                        Now the elephant are extricating. Because the people are killing them to get their tusks. So it is forbidden to kill elephant.

MY HOME TOWN

                                                                        My    home town is Balangoda. It is in the Sabaragamuwa province and in Ratnapura district .It is about 146 kilometer from Colombo and 46 kilo metres from Ratnapura town. Balangoda is a very beautiful city. It is surrounded by many hills. Therefore it has good climate. The population of this town is about 50 000. Most of the people are Sinhalese Buddhists .The main cultivations of this area are tea, coconut andpaddy. Balangoda is very famous for gems. The town has lot of is facilities for the people such as leading schools, medical, traveling, water supply and many other things. There are many interesting places in the areasuch as Duvilly Ella and Samanela wava. I like my home town very much.                                          

DALUKGALA

             My village is Mahawalathenna.It is in Sabaragamuwa province in Rathnapura districk Balangoda town and in Sri lanka. There are very beautiful places. Dalukgala is a one of them.Dalukgala is a Rock.It has a very importain tree and very ancient harbal plant.
            A cave has under the rock.Long ago it has lived some people.Now lot of people come to look
this Rock.It is surrounded by many hitls and beautiful
jungle.It is a very fascinating scean specialy evening.

                                                             March eight is international women’s’ day .This day has been set a side to develop the status of women through out the world .Long ago women did not play an important role in society.

Most of them were confining to their homes. They had to do all the house work while the men earned money

To up keep the family women hardly did jobs. This was true in our country Sri lank. Gradually when women were 

Educated. They even out did the men. The first woman prime minister was Mrs.Bandaranayake a Sri Lankan. She

Brought credit hotelwomen of our wacountry. She was able to show us that a woman could rise to these heights. She is not the only woman who has done this.

I have a brother and two sisters. My father mr. Somarathna Pathirana. He is carpenter and My mother is Missies Lalana Vidanaarachchi. She is a good house wife. I will sit for the G.C.E.
